Ocean County Drone Regulations By Municipality

A few days ago we told you about the proposed ordinance for Toms River to restrict the use of drones in the township.

As I was doing some research, I realized that there really isn't a good, one-stop repository of drone regulations throughout Ocean County.

So I emailed a few dozen officials throughout the area to start compiling just that.

This will be a changeable list as I hear back from more officials, and as some municipalities may move to change their ordinances. But, for now, this is what we got:

 

 

  • Barnegat

    No local ordinance at this time.

  • Lacey Township

    No local ordinance at this time.

  • Lakewood

    No local ordinance at this time.

  • Long Beach Township

    Drones banned

  • Manchester Township

    Proposed ordinance tabled. No ordinance at this time.

    (Current as of 4/17/17)

  • Seaside Heights

    Ordinance proposed, not adopted yet. Flight over Casino Pier construction and on the beach banned.

    (Current as of 4/17/17)

  • Seaside Park

    No local ordinance at this time.

  • Toms River

FAA Regulations

Of course, it's important to remember that all drones over 0.55lbs are subject to FAA regulations, including registration, regardless of where you're flying it.
