A couple of weeks ago I told you about the discussions in Toms River around whether the township should enact strict regulations on flying unmanned aerial vehicles (more commonly, of course, known as "drones") within its borders.

Well, last week the Township Council met to discuss the issue.

The Asbury Park Press reports that after much discussion both for and against enacting regulations, the ordinance has been tabled for now.

A number of citizens spoke at the meeting, including hobbyists who have enjoyed responsibly flying their drones in Toms River, and residents who have expressed concern over privacy issues.

While the ordinance has been tabled, it's by no means dead. A number of council members spoke of their desire to draft up and adopt a revised set of rules.
