“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” –Anatole France

This article I'm taking the approach of "in my humble opinion" this is my opinion on a subject that we see more and more of in the news. Cruelty to animals is a problem not only here in Ocean and Monmouth Counties, but around New Jersey and the Nation.

This week President Trump signed legislation that makes it a federal crime to torture or kill animals and it's about time. People who abuse helpless animals should be held to the strictest laws and punished for this horrid crime. Animals have no way of dealing with abusive humans and usually it's a pet that only wants to love and be loved and it's horrible when we see headlines about people who have carried out this terrible crime.

In a recent nj.com article, this legislation makes it illegal to torture or kill animals, and to make and sell videos of such activities. The measure also provides further protections for animals and our community and will make sure those guilty will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law according to Chris Schindler (Vice President of Field Services at the Humane Rescue Alliance)

As I stated this article is mainly my opinion along with the news of the bill signing. I always feel a start to further crimes against humanity begins with those committing harm to animals. Anyone who can purposely abuse and kill animals for no reason except gratification, is a threat to the public and has no place in our modern society.

I often think of our Dexter (our family dog) and how could anyone hurt this poor defenseless animal and get pleasure doing it....simply awful. When i see or hear of animals being abused it breaks my heart and I always ask myself "how could someone do this?"

Thank you President Trump for taking this strict approach to animal cruelty and finally signing this type of legislation....lets hope it deters future horrific acts.

If you see an animal being abused contact your Police and report the incident, lets put an end to animal abuse .... Thanks for taking the time to hear me out.
