The last time that I wrote about the American Dream Mall at the Meadowlands was on July 3rd of this year.

At that time, the mall's developers said that the mega-mall would finally be opening on October 25th, 2019 after many years and many delays (like, a lot of years and a lot of delays).

That was 3 months ago, and if we've learned anything from the American Dream saga, it's that things can change.

So, where are we at now, only 2 1/2 weeks before that target date rolls around?

Well, credit where it's due because as of this writing, the mall is indeed still scheduled to open to the public on Friday, October 25th, 2019.

Well, kind of.

Sure, it's a mall, but you won't be able to shop at the mall on the 25th. Or eat at any of the food courts, either.

Now, before I get into specifics, I have to salute NorthJersey.com for their tireless coverage of this rather challenging to cover story.

According to their most recent story, published on October 4th, the complex will open in "chapters" starting on the 25th.

The shopping portion of the center won't be open yet, but two of American Dream's big attractions will be open:

  • Nickelodeon Universe and Theme Park and The Rink at American Dream will be the first to open on October 25th.
  • The DreamWorks Water Park is expected to open next, on November 27th.
  • The indoor snow park, including the now-famous indoor ski slope, is set for December 5th.

But, what about actually being able to shop at the mall?

Well, you'll have to wait a bit longer for that, with the NorthJersey.com story pegging March 2020 for the ribbon cutting on the retail portion of American Dream.

But at least we do know some of the stores that will be there, so that's something.

As for an official comment from the mall's developers, the latest quoted comment from two weeks ago simply says that they are, "...not ready to provide additional opening details" at this time.

So, we'll go with what you see above for now. Unless it changes. Which it might.

Check back here as we learn more.
