In my latest "Hiking New Jersey" webisode ... I am taking you to Smithville Park. Now the first thing is that this is completely different then the historic town of Smithville. Smithville Park is near Mount Holly in Easthampton, Burlington County. The park is a favorite of my Family for hiking. It has lil of everything for the family (including your furry friends) for you to enjoy a day at the park!

Numerous hiking and bike trails. Some of the trails are elevated with hills and stairs, but lots are flat and firm ground. The floating bridge is a cool part of the trail system and you never know what your going to see as you cross Smithville Lake. We always see bikers, hikers and dog lovers out and about in this park...perfect for everyone.

History is a part of the park too. The park, including the village, is listed on the National and New Jersey Registers of Historic Places. It includes historic "Smithville Mansion and Museum"...plus the "Worker's House Museum & Gallery". There are still remnants of the old buildings along some trail and a perfect photo op! In the 1800's Smithville Village was considered a model industrial town here in New Jersey.

There's fun for the kids with playgrounds and plenty of restrooms. There are picnic areas also and canoe rentals (seasonal).

It's about a half hour or so from Ocean County and well worth a trip on a sunny Sunday.
