It was only two weeks ago that I was complaining about the ridiculousness of back to school displays starting to show up in local stores, with summer not even half over yet.

But if you think that's bad, this one takes the cake (or at least the pumpkin spice muffins).

Just earlier this week, right in these pages we were asking if this is too soon for Halloween candy to go on sale.

But now, with photographic proof courtesy of one of our colleagues in our Trenton office, we see that not only is Halloween candy on sale but it's being heavily marketed, with huge displays and pallets full of candy.

Interestingly, however, I also notice that there aren't any discount signs on the display. So it would appear that the candy is only being marketed at this point, not put on any sales promotions or discounts.

For the record, Halloween is still over 100 days away as of this writing.

In fact, let's make this even easier!

Here's a handy countdown clock to keep track of how long the candy is going to sit in your pantry before the first trick or treater comes knocking:

Ok, let's be honest, it's not going to be in your pantry. If you're like me, it'll be in your belly before we even make it to August.

Let the Christmas displays begin!
