“Tell Me Something Good” That Doesn’t Involve Politics
Election Day is rough for a lot of people. No matter what party you're affiliated with, you want your candidates to win, and you'll be disappointed, perhaps even devastated if they lose. One friend apologized in advance for any unusual behavior; she says, "I'm a wreck on Election Day!"
If you're having a tough day, or just need a break from politics and divisiveness, this post is for you! I'm here to remind you that there is a lot of good in the world; in New Jersey, in Ocean County, and probably right in your own home. The good stuff may not be too apparent; but you can probably find it if you look hard enough.
For example, last week I found myself caught in a number of traffic jams. I HATE sitting in traffic! But thankfully I caught a glimpse of some trees with gorgeous autumn colors and that got me out of my grumpy mood. Since the car wasn't moving, I looked around for even more trees. There they were, bright oranges and reds...fall foliage at its peak! It was a simple lesson in the power of looking for something good or looking for something to be grateful for. It's a real mood-shifter.
Do you have Google Assistant on your phone or Google Home device? Do you know that you can get good news on demand by simply saying, "OK Google, tell me something good!"
So for this blog post, I'm going to borrow that line from Google. "Tell me something good," dear listeners. It could be anything. You're celebrating an anniversary. Your child just got a job. It's your birthday. You just found something you had lost. Your pet is snuggled up next to you. You just found money in your pocket. Your spouse just brought you a cup of tea. Anything that can add a little happiness to the day. Please comment. We'd love to see some smiles today around Ocean County.
