With the hustle and bustle of the holidays over now, I took a few minutes to reflect on the past long weekend.  I thought about all the pieces that came together and all the people who helped to make the season bright.  In no particular order:

Good cooks and bakers:  Facebook was full of photos of people making pierogies, roasts, and beautiful baked goods.  I hope delicious food was part of your holiday celebration.  Personally, I'm grateful that my sister is a wonderful cook who prepared a huge feast and handled special requests and dietary restrictions with grace.

Restaurant workers: My Christmas Eve meal, like many of yours, was out at a restaurant so I'm grateful to all those food servers, cooks, and dishwashers who work on the holidays so we can enjoy ours.

Movie theatre employees:  Christmas Eve also had me at the movie theatre seeing "The Greatest Showman" (which I highly recommend!).  With movie-watching a tradition for a lot of Ocean County families, it's nice that people work on the days when we want to head to a screening.

Pet sitters:  I would not have been able to spend as much time with my family as I did if I didn't have a great dogsitter to look after my pup while I was out of town.  Thanks to those of you professional pooch sitters as well as the neighbors and friends who help out when they can.

Road crews, law enforcement, healthcare workers, etc:  We spent 4 hours in the car yesterday and thankfully traffic was light on the Parkway and Turnpike.  Most importantly, we didn't see any accidents or disabled vehicles.  I'm grateful for everyone who works to keep things safe on the roads, and to the medical professionals who are there to help when needed.

This is just a short list of what I'm grateful for today.  What's something YOU'RE thankful for on this day after Christmas?
