Earlier this year, we posted the Top 10 Jersey Shore schools with incidents that involved drug and alcohol offenses.  Not surprisingly, it got a lot of people talking.

According to Mike Yaple, Spokesman for the state Department of Education, 'these numbers are reported by each district, so each jurisdiction is responsible for reporting their results fairly and accurately. But they are required by law to report them.'

We all hope our high schools do not make this list, but officials have put together a list of the schools in New Jersey with the highest reported cases of drug and alcohol incidents (latest data available). I spotted this article first published by the Patch and narrowed it down.  Here are the Top 10 schools here in Ocean and Monmouth County:

    1. Toms River Regional 77*
    2. Freehold Regional 49*
    3. Jackson Township 31*
    4. Brick Township 27*
    5. Middletown 19*
    6. Lakewood 17*
    7. Long Branch 17*
    8. Southern Regional 17*
    9. Manasquan 14*
    10. Ocean Township 13*

* - number of reported cases

The Top 3 in the state overall were Paterson, Jersey City, and Elizabeth.
