Berkley Police are still in search of the man suspected of stabbing an employee of the Bayville ShopRite on Rt. 9 earlier this afternoon.

Berkley Police Seargant says that Noah Jackson,37 of Berkley, is in stable condition after allegedly being stabbed between checkout lanes 1 and 3 by 34 year old Christopher Page of Bayville around noon.

The store was temporarily closed and the currently Jackson airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he was  treated for serious stab wounds but is reported to be in stable condition.

Karen Meleta, spokesperson for the store says Jackson was on his shift during the attack.

Smith says when police arrived at the scene they found the Jackson wounded.

"When arriving officers got here they found a victim lying on the floor in need of police assistance." says Smith.

Smith describes Pageas  a black male, 5'10'', 150 pounds, short hair with a pockmarked face. He says also that Page is a resident of Galleon Court in Bayville and was last seen in a 2002 Gold Infinity with New Jersey License Plates reading UYD-68X.  Anyone who sees Page or his car should call 911 or the police department at 732-341-6600.

The store was closed while police were investigating but has since been re-opened at 5 pm.

Smith says Page will be charged with attempted murder and weapons possession charges. He notes police are investigating the connection between the two men.

Berkley Police are still in search of the suspect.
