If you’ve driven past the old Acme Draft House spot lately in the plaza on Route 9, you probably noticed it too, there’s a new sign in the window.

And yes… it’s a restaurant. Shore Good Eats!

For a town that’s been saying “we need something!” for what feels like forever, this feels like a little spark of excitement.

The Perfect Spot for a New Restaurant

The space, formerly home to Acme Draft House in the busy ShopRite Plaza, is prime real estate. It sits right off Route 9, next to the liquor store and pet shop, and that plaza is almost always packed thanks to ShopRite. If you’re opening a restaurant in Bayville, that’s exactly where you’d want to be.

We’ve Been Teased Before…

After Acme Draft House closed, there were whispers that something new was coming. Then, nothing. Plans changed. Things stalled. We never really got the full story.

So you can understand why some of us are cautiously optimistic this time. But this new sign feels different. It looks real. It looks like progress.

Shore Good Eats is the name of the new restaurant! Catchy, I like it!

Fingers Crossed for a Great Spot

When I ask people what Bayville needs most, the answer is almost always the same: “A good sit-down restaurant.” Not fast food. Not another quick grab-and-go. A real place to sit down, relax, and stay awhile.

Honestly? A local brewing company or even a small distillery would be pretty cool for Bayville. Somewhere with character. Somewhere you meet friends after work. Somewhere that feels like community.

But no matter what kind of restaurant it ends up being, what we really want is:

  • Great food

  • A welcoming vibe

  • A place everyone feels comfortable going

  • Something we can actually be proud to say is ours

Bayville has heart. We just need a gathering spot that matches it.

We don’t know the opening date.

I’ll keep my eyes open and let you know as soon as we hear more. Until then… I’m crossing my fingers this is exactly what Bayville’s been waiting for.
