Some of the Best…But Who Is REALLY Number One in Ocean County, New Jersey?

Sausage links, crispy bacon, pork roll sizzling on the grill, eggs, pancakes, French toast dusted with powdered sugar, the list goes on and on.

I love breakfast. Around here that’s not a controversial statement. In New Jersey, especially in Ocean County, breakfast is “huge.”

Thanks for always sharing your breakfast with us every day with the Shawn & Sue show on 92.7 WOBM with the good plates, the greasy plates, even the “oops I burnt it” plates. We love them all.

When we ask about your favorite things in Ocean County, your opinions come flying in. And when the topic turned to favorite breakfast place, boy did the votes pour in. Apparently choosing just one spot in this county is harder than picking Powerball numbers.

The Ocean County Breakfast Hall of Fame

You came up with an all-star lineup:

  • Forked River Diner – Forked River

  • Dynasty Diner – Tuckerton

  • Sand Castle Diner – Beachwood

  • The Mug Rack – Jackson

  • C&G’s Country Café – Toms River

  • Grits and Grace – Bayville

  • Brownstone Pancake Factory – Brick

These weren’t just random mentions. These are places tied to first dates, Sunday routines, construction guys grabbing coffee at 6 a.m., and grandparents taking the grandkids out after soccer. That’s the power of breakfast.

And Then You Did the Impossible

After hundreds of comments, messages, and a few friendly arguments, two restaurants kept battling it out for the top, until something wild happened.

You tied SIX for first.

Yes, according to YOU, the listeners, there was a dead heat between:

👉 Forked River Diner
👉 Dynasty Diner
👉 Sand Castle Diner
👉 The Mug Rack
👉 C&G’s in Toms River
👉 Grits and Grace

And sitting right there with them, the county’s pancake celebrity, Brownstone Pancake Factory in Brick.

Honestly, that sounds exactly like Ocean County. We don’t have one champion, we’ve got a breakfast league.

Why These Spots Won Your Hearts

Locals said the Forked River Diner feels like walking into your aunt’s kitchen. Dynasty in Tuckerton got love for those classic Jersey omelets and home fries done the RIGHT way. Sand Castle in Beachwood? Families talked about going there for decades.

The Mug Rack in Jackson earned points for big portions and bigger personality. C&G’s in Toms River is where half the county seems to grab their morning coffee, and Grits and Grace in Bayville brought that Southern-meets-Jersey vibe that people can’t stop craving. Then there’s Brownstone, where pancakes show up looking like a theme park ride.

The common thread was simple - Great food. Friendly people. Plates big enough for Jersey appetites.

Breakfast Is My Time

For me, going out to breakfast is so, so important. Growing up, Sundays were the one day Dad didn’t work. After church we’d head to my parents’ favorite diner, same booth, same smell of toast and bacon. Still today I make sure we go out as a family once a weekend. It means more to me than any dinner. Breakfast is my time with my family, I appreciate it and love it so much.

And on vacation? Even bigger. The first mission wherever we visit is finding the local breakfast joint everyone braves lines for. Vacation breakfast is the best.

We love our breakfast in Ocean County! It's the way to start the day.
