What is the Most Popular Dog Breed in New Jersey?
According to Forbes, "66% of U.S. households (86.9 million homes) own a pet. Dogs are the most popular pet in the U.S. (65.1 million U.S. households own a dog), followed by cats (46.5 million households) and freshwater fish (11.1 million households)." Over 65 million homes own a dog, that's a pretty impressive number and shows how popular our canine family members are.

We had two dogs for about 15 years and they were fantastic and they were best friends with each. We had two smaller dogs (a Bichon Frise and a Maltipoo) Max and Dex and we miss them every day. We are holding off before committing once again but one day we will have another pup or two in the house.
In a recent Patch article, they looked at Forbes and their survey which looked at the most popular dog breeds in each state in the nation. For us here in the Garden State, the dog of choice is the German Shepherd.
"We’re dog people in New Jersey — German shepherd people if you want to get technical, according to a recent Forbes survey that looked at favorite dog breeds by state."
German Shepherds are bigger dogs and many probably associate them with Police or Military Dogs. We never had a German Shepherd, but people we know who have them love them. According to A-Z Animals, "the German Shepherd is one of the top five most common breeds in the US." What is your favorite dog breed? Post your comments below.
