Water Main Bursts in Barnegat

Taps suddenly went dry in Barnegat in the middle of Friday morning after a water main ruptured under Montclair Road.

According to police, a road construction crew gouged it, triggering a shutdown of water service to about 300 homes on Bayshore Drive from 11th Street to the municipal dock, as well as homes on roads that branch from Bayshore in the vicinity.

Repairs are anticipated to be completed by 2 PM. Once done, a boil advisory stays in effect for 24 hours for drinking, and for all purposes related to consumption.
