The Return of an Iconic Jersey Shore Business
Anyone who grew up here at the Jersey Shore remembers the Berkeley Sweet Shop. According to the Asbury Park Press, the Sweet Shop opened in Asbury Park in 1910 before moving to Seaside Heights 1948. The candy icon let visitors watch as the taffy machines pulled apart the Jersey Shore Sweet Treat!
The shop was hit but not destroyed by Superstorm Sandy, but the boardwalk fire a year later devastated the candy shop. Owners tried a brief stint on a portion of the rebuilt boardwalk with a stand but closed indefinitely in 2014, but now they are promising a comeback!
