So a while back I did an original photo gallery entitled "Backyard Friends" and it was just that, photos of some of the animals that we see on a regular basis here in New Jersey.

It’s winter and we are still in the grips of a pandemic, board yet? I think we all need a distraction or we become bored and depressed. It’s been like a year since life changed and if you are practicing safe distancing and quarantine then you probably have become a lil stir crazy at home.

New Jersey is home to many species of birds. We have the unique scenario where we have beautiful forests and pine barrens along with the gorgeous ocean coastline. Each brings different types of birds, so it's a bird watchers paradise. Enjoy a few of my personal favorites that I have photographed over the years.

Birdwatching at the Jersey Shore.....Spring is here at the Jersey Shore and this weekend I stumbled across this woodpecker family doing some Spring cleaning of their home....a true tree house. I sat back and watched and photographed their work, I hope you enjoy a look at Jersey Shore nature at it's best....a break from the negatives we hear and see everyday.

They're back! What are we talking about? the "Snowy Owl" .... these beautiful birds of prey have returned to the Jersey Shore.

It is our best fisherman, the Osprey ..... the hawk of the sea! You'll see them up and down the Jersey Shore coast. This is my favorite bird to photograph and I'm lucky to live in an area with many to view. Just this past Friday at our Community Medical Center Seaside Park Boardwalk Studio we watched an Osprey fishing in the surf and bringing home fresh fish to their babies.

This past Saturday it was a perfect "Spring" day here in the Garden State! Sunshine and temps in the 70's, a beautiful day to get out for a hike and a day of "wildlife watching". I decided to go to the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Reserve in Oceanville (Atlantic County) a great place to hike and observe all kinds of wildlife.

Some say it's New Jersey's most impressive owl, the Great Horned Owl. This owl can get as large as 25 inches in length with a wing span of nearly 5 feet. I was doing some photos along seven bridges road in Little Egg Harbor when I first passed the owl. I a...
