Saying Good Riddance To Winter 2013/2014

How sweet are these words - "It's the last full day of winter"?

I think it's fair to say that this winter hasn't been terribly pleasant.

Even for people who usually enjoy some snow and the cooler temperatures, this season was just a bit too much for comfort.

Schools lost days, companies lost business, and just about everyone was wondering what the heck happened to all the salt?

Well, as I write this, winter 2013/14 only has less than 20 hours left.

In fact, this morning when I was getting into my car, the little bit of rain made it smell like spring for the first time in 2014.

Now, of course this doesn't mean that we can't still get slammed with a snow storm or have temperatures dive back below freezing. But still, I think there's a certain comfort in knowing that the worst of it is behind us ahead of us we have spring (and of course summer) to look forward to.

So I say, "good riddance" to this past winter, and "welcome" to spring 2014!
