Movies That I Liked But Have No Interest in Seeing Again

So Wednesday I shared my favorite “Rewatchable Movies”…you know the ones that you watch time and time again when you come across them.  They don’t have to be great movies but ones you have lost count of when it comes to how many times you have watched at least part of it.

Today I’m going in the opposite direction.  These are highly-acclaimed movies that I have watched and in some cases really liked but for one reason or another just don’t have any need to see again.

1. Schindler’s List (1993) It’s an epic film that won 7 Academy Awards and is on many of the best-ever lists. It was as powerful a movie as you’ll ever see but once or twice was enough.
2. Elephant Man (1980) John Hurt & Anthony Hopkins are brilliant but it’s tough to watch even the first time.
3. Mystic River (2003) An amazing cast led by Oscar winners Sean Penn & Tim Robbins. Set in a suburb of Boston I remember it being somewhat dark.
4. The Road (2009) A man and his son wander through a post-apocalyptic America. Maybe I fear it’s a preview of things to come.
5. Brokeback Mountain (2005) A brutally honest film about a tough subject matter for many.
6. Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) This one is personal. On a very cold January night in 1980 driving to South Amboy to see this on one of my first dates with the woman I would marry.  Oscars for Hoffman & Streep but no need to watch again.
7. Precious (2009) A very powerful film which drains you emotionally to the point where watching again is simply not in the cards for me.
8. Leaving Las Vegas (1995) Nicholas Cage drinking himself to death falls into the “once is enough” category.
9. The Irishman (2019) Can a movie with DeNiro, Pacino, Pesci and Keitel be bad? Of course not but it’s 3 ½ hours long…enough said.
10. Manchester by the Sea (2016) It’s a really good film that never puts a smile on your face. I was emotionally drained when it ended.
