7 Overlooked Small New Jersey Towns You Have To Visit
Spring is on the way, and if you're looking for something fun to do in Jersey, then you're in luck because there's always somewhere cool to explore in the Garden State.
Whether you want to enjoy 130 miles of beautiful sandy beaches, or you'd rather explore the vast expanse of the Pine Barrens Jersey has something for everyone.
We've also got some pretty amazing small towns.
Some of these towns are pretty popular like Asbury Park, Frenchtown, Point Pleasant and Montclair.
According to World Atlas though, there are a lot of overlooked small towns that you should take the time to visit this year.
World Atlas claims that these are Jersey's most overlooked small towns, do you agree?
7. Maplewood
Despite its closeness to the Big Apple, Maplewood has a small-town American vibe filled with coffee shops, bookstores, and parks.
You have easy access to the city without the stress and hassle that comes with city living.
6. Allentown
Allentown is small but mighty.
I got lost once and ended up in Allentown and fell in love with this little town.
Its pristine Main Street takes you back to a simpler time and has a bunch of little shops.
5. Lambertville
I was surprised to see Lambertville on this list seeing how people always mention how much they love this town.
It has tons of art and film festivals, has a really nice little river walk, and is considered one of Jersey's most bikeable towns.
4. Keyport
I'll be honest, I don't know much about Keyport but according to World Atlas, it mixes easy access to New York with the charm of a coastal New England town.
You'll find easy access to the water, as well as a really nice little commercial district.
3. Red Bank
Again, I was surprised to see Red Bank on a list of the most overlooked towns.
Red Bank is a cultural hub in Monmouth County, home to the Count Basie Theatre, a dynamic downtown filled with bars, shops, and restaurants, and easy access to the Navesink River.
It's also just a short drive to the beach, so that's a huge plus too.
2. Spring Lake
Spring Lake is just South of Asbury Park and is often overlooked as a vacation destination because of it.
But, Spring Lake has a gorgeous beach area and tons of shops and restaurants downtown and you can really get lost there for a day.
And the most overlooked town in Jersey?
1. Phillipsburg
Located 30 Minutes outside of the Pocono Mountains, this town seems awesome!
You can check out the Deleware River Railroad Excursion where you can ride a classic steam engine around Warren County.
You can explore the riverside shopping district, go hiking, and just enjoy the natural beauty that is New Jersey.
