Huddy Park Is Getting A Makeover
One of the most historic sites in Ocean County is getting a makeover - Huddy Park in Toms River will be undergoing a million dollar facelift.
Toms River's oldest park, built 110 years ago, is also near the site of an important Revolutionary War fort, dating back over 230 years.
The park is named for Captain Joshua Huddy, the commander of a fort that was located on what's now Robbins Street.
As part of the makeover, a replica of the fort, known as The Block House, will be constructed, as well as new landscaping, benches, and sidewalks.
The project is slated to start this fall and take about a year. Officials are hoping to make the revamped park part of the township's 250th anniversary celebrations in 2017.
