It's an annoyance to be driving through constant Parkway construction in Ocean County, but it's definitely nice when we get to see and use the results of all of those delays and lane closures.

This week, Exit 89 in Brick/Lakewood is open for business.

It may not sound like that big of a deal for people who don't frequent the area, but if you're a regular visitor to the shopping centers on Route 70, it's huge.

If you're coming from Toms River or other destinations South of the area, the new interchange will probably shave close to 10 minutes off of your trip if you're heading to places like Costco and Target.

Now, instead of going to Exit 90, going down Chambersbridge Road where you have to pass through at least three lights, onto Route 70, and another group of lights, you can now get right off the Parkway and onto Route 70 right at the Costco shopping plaza.

There's still a lot of work going on and a lot of changes still to come, but this is at least one accomplishment that will make many of our errand running trips easier.
