Hiking NJ: Jakes Branch County Park in Beachwood [VIDEO]
In my latest webisode of Hiking NJ April and I were off to Jakes Branch County Park in Beachwood. First thing I thought was how could we have never been to this beautiful Ocean County Park? I loved this park! It has great trails, amenities and a really nice nature center.
There are several trails at various lengths at Jakes Branch. We did the “blue” trail which is just about 4 miles. The trail is easy, mostly flat with a pretty hard pack. We likes how cleared most of the trail was. I like wide trails that keep you from dealing with plant allergies and/or bugs. Most of the trail is very wide, some tighter areas but nothing too snug.
I really like well marked trails and Jakes Branch trails are very well marked. I don’t like having to search for trail markings and not knowing if I’m going in the right direction and Jakes Branch are very well marked.....so another positive!
Be sure when you go to Jakes Branch that you check out the nature center. Be sure to bring your mask, social distance and enjoy. Lots to see and learn about. Be sure to go up and check out the observation deck for some great views of the park. There are restrooms at the nature center.
This is a really nice park, one of my favorites in Ocean County. Jakes Branch is located on Double Trouble Road in Beachwood.
