When it's so hot and humid outside, who wants to work over a hot stove?  Who wants to heat up the kitchen while something's baking in the oven?

On days like today, salad is always a good standby.  I sometimes add the pre-packaged, cooked chicken slices from the supermarket.  But I know that doesn't usually go over well with the young ones so do you have any kid-friendly suggestions for meals during a heat wave?  I'm thinking the crockpot might help on a day like today.  Beef stew always comes out delicious and it doesn't really heat up the kitchen.

How do you typically feed the family when it's too hot to cook?  Please share your comments or recipes below.
