Covid Restrictions Firmly in Place To See World-Famous Rockefeller Christmas Tree

The world’s most famous and beautiful Christmas tree is lit and will remain illuminated for the 2020 holiday season. The gigantic 75-foot  spruce stands tall at one of New York City’s most famous landmarks, Rockefeller Plaza.

The tree, with more than 50,000 multi colored lights and five miles of wire will light up the 2020 holiday season at Rockefeller Center. The tree will only stay lit until 10:30 PM. The lights will stay on for 24 hours on Christmas Day.

Things will be much different this year if you're planning a visit to see this world-famous tree thanks to the ongoing concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Travel and Leisure, some of the restrictions due to Covid include using one of the tree viewing entrances located on 49th and 50th streets. You'll also get access to the tree by using the entrance between 5th and 6th avenues. You must have a group of four or less.

Social distance markers will guide you to the tree, once there, you'll only have five minutes to take photos and to marvel at one of the most beautiful Christmas trees in the world. Social distance practicing and mask wearing will be strictly enforced.

According to People.com, the 2020 version of the Rockefeller Christmas tree came from a general store located in Oneonta, New York. The gigantic 75-foot  spruce was cut down on Thursday, November 12th to begin its annual holiday trek to Rockefeller Center.
