NORAD Will Still Track Santa on Christmas Eve Regardless of COVID

It's so important to keep family holiday traditions alive this Christmas as we continue to carefully and safely navigate through the pandemic.

One holiday tradition that will go on this year is the official NORAD tracking of Santa Claus on Christmas Eve according to a report form USA Today. Like everything, the will be some changes and modifications on the annual tracking of the Big Guy as he begins his holiday trek around the globe and South Jersey to deliver gifts to all the good boys and girls.

One change this year is the number of volunteers answering the phones being cut due to safety concerns which means not every child will be able to talk to someone at NORAD to check in on the progress of Jolly Old Saint Nick.

On a typical Christmas Eve, NORAD would have between 150-160 volunteers per shift answering the busy phones in a NORAD conference room. Now, thanks to COVID, that number will be dropped to 10 people per shift. If you don't get through, you will get a recorded update on Santa's journey around the world.

NORAD had been tracking the Jolly Old Elf since Christmas 1955.You can call the NORAD toll-free hotline at 1-877-446-6723 starting at 6 AM on Christmas Eve to keep tabs on the Big Guy.
