Fair warning - I'm going to vent about a topic that not everybody is going to agree with. I would have to guess that at least once a day I see someone throw a cigarette butt on the ground or out of their car window. Sorry if you disagree, but it's litter, plain and simple.

I think that over the years, we as a society have gotten more conscious about litter.

You'll still see garbage on the side of the road, but I don't think that it's as prevalent as it was 10-15 years ago.

You'd be surprised if you saw someone throw a used takeout bag out of their car window while doing 60 down the Parkway, right? So why is it ok to toss a cigarette butt out the window?

The worst is at night, when the wind catches it and makes it spark against the hood of your own car.

I'm not passing judgment on smokers in general, there are plenty of contentious smokers who dispose of their used smokes responsibly, but even walking down the street, you'll still occasionally see someone finish a cigarette and just flick it aside.

Do you think that cigarette butts count as litter? If you're a smoker, do you go out of your way to dispose of your used cigs in a designated receptacle? Tell us in the comments!
