Yesterday, while I was broadcasting from our Seaside Studio, I had a visitor come up and ask about the history of Seaside Heights. Honestly, I couldn't really say much except for recent history, so I did a little bit of research.
On September 8th, 1934, the residents of Asbury Park witnessed a disaster that the whole Jersey shore wouldn't soon forget. The SS Morro Castle luxury liner was crippled by flames within view of the beach, boardwalk, and Paramount Theater & Convention Hall, taking 135 lives with it.
