On this day in History we said "So-Long" "Howdy"

This morning on the Ocean County Breakfast Show we took a look back on a piece of television history. The NBC hit children's show "Howdy Doody" signed off on this day in history in 1960. Howdy Doody ran from December 27, 1947 to September 24th 1960... an impressive 13 year run!

The character first came to life from the creative mind of Bob Smith, who created Howdy Doody during his days as a radio announcer on WNBC (AM).

The original Howdy Doody marionette now resides at the Detroit Institute of Arts.

"Double" Doody was the Howdy stand-in puppet, is now on permanent display at the Smithsonian
