On September 8th, 1934, the residents of Asbury Park witnessed a disaster that the whole Jersey shore wouldn’t soon forget. The SS Morro Castle luxury liner was crippled by flames within view of the beach, boardwalk, and Paramount Theater & Convention Hall, taking 135 lives with it.
