Look, I don't want to brag, but the Jersey Shore destination that was just named the state's best by a national publication doesn't surprise me one bit. I've been a fan for years.

In fact, they helped me achieve a dream that I've had for over half my life.

The winner? Asbury Park's Silverball Museum:

Don't let "museum" in the name fool you, this isn't a place that people walk around slowly in silent contemplation.

Sure, it's a museum in the sense that it is a comprehensive look back at the history of pinball over nearly 70 years.

But the best part? You don't have to look but not touch. You can play every single one of the pinball machines on display.

Silverball has earned a special place in my heart not just for inspiring childlike wonder and fond memories, but it was thanks to the Silverball staff that I was able to achieve something that I dreamed of since I was a teenager.

Don't just take my word or USAToday's for it, though!

Less than an hour away from even the furthest reaches of Ocean County, Silverball, right on the boardwalk in Asbury Park, is a worthy destination for a family day out. And I promise, you will spend hours there!

Congrats, Silverball Museum, you deserve the honor!
