There are few things more classic to the American experience than setting yourself up in front of a pinball machine and blasting the silver ball around. In the last 15 years or so, it's been hard to find new innovation in the pinball field, but one Ocean County company is changing that.

I got the opportunity this morning to take a tour of the Jersey Jack Pinball factory with the man himself, "Jersey Jack" Guarnieri. And I have to say, it was one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

From bins of metal, wires, plastic and wood, to the flashing, popping, and whirring end result, it's an amazing operation. And it's right here in our own backyard, in Lakewood.

With their debut game, the critically acclaimed Wizard of Oz, Jersey Jack has made a name for themselves in an industry that has mostly been dominated by really only two main companies; Bally (which got out of the pinball business 15 years ago), and Stern.

Jersey Jack is arguably changing the face of the business with innovations that have never been tried before, and iconic themes (next up for them is a game based on the blockbuster Hobbit movie trilogy).

With that all being said, I have a whole lot to share - pictures, videos, interviews and, of course, lots of high action pinball gameplay. So stay tuned, we've got a lot more from Jersey Jack on the way!

In the meantime, here's some video of me trying to "save Toto" on The Wizard of Oz pinball machine:
