An investigation begins into a three-alarm fire that leaves six Asbury Park residents homeless. According to the Asbury Park Press, the fire in the 2-and-a-half story duplex on Sewall Avenue began in the basement and worked its way to the attic through open bays behind walls Wednesday afternoon. All the residents escaped unharmed but a neptune firefighter was taken to the hospital with chest pains.

Forty firefighters from the city and surrounding communities responded.
