Let's have some with this article and see how many of these animals you may have seen in your yard. New Jersey has a wide variety of animals and different sections of the state have certain animals you see more frequently. For example, you probably will see more bears in the northwest section of the state and you probably will see more birds along the shore.

According to AZ Animals, "The most common native animals in New Jersey are squirrels, which are rodents. Eastern Chipmunks are also native rodents. Mammals including groundhogs, Virginia opossums, raccoons, skunks, and white-tailed deer are also native, as are gray foxes."

A recent animal we are seeing in New Jersey is the coyote. I never remember seeing coyotes but I have seen them here in New Jersey. According to SILive.com, "At least 3,000 coyotes are estimated to live in New Jersey, said the state's division of Fish and Wildlife, with sightings occurring in all 21 counties. That figure, an official told NJ.com, is likely an undercount."

I have to agree that the squirrel is the most abundant animal in New Jersey. We do have a lot of squirrels, in fact, we actually have squirrels that visit us on a regular basis along with chipmunks and they seem to call our yard home. They don't do any harm and they even let us feed them by hand which is a fun thing to do. I never fed wild animals until recently but we have a few we know and it seems like they know us now. Other animals that frequent our yard are birds, deer, and raccoons, and recently we have had a skunk that made a few visits. How about you? Any wild animals you have adopted in your neighborhood?
