Wedding anniversaries often don’t come with a lot of pomp and circumstance unless there are milestones….10, 20, 25, 30, 40 and the ultimate 50-year golden anniversary.  With that said Saturday is the 45th anniversary of Jane Viggiano becoming Jane Williams and our celebration will be somewhat subdued as we will be at a family gathering for another celebration in Pennsylvania.

I’d be lying if I said we have had 45 years of smooth sailing with no rough seas. I have truly tested that part about “in sickness and in health” following a 30-month period a few years back in which I had three back surgeries and both hips replaced.  Each time recovery centered on Jane’s devotion to helping me in every way possible and even to this day I still need her at times to tie my shoes/sneakers.  She was an amazing caretaker as I was not the easiest person to deal with. For the most part that is all in the rearview mirror expect for the neuropathy in my left foot which is a story in its own.

Of course like other couples who have stood the test of time there have been plenty of ups and downs.  However we raised two amazing children who are our lasting legacy and we have two grandchildren that we love and adore.  That adds up to success and I would not change that for anything.

So 45 years after she said “I do” she still does and I could not be luckier. Happy Anniversary Jane, I love you and know I have outkicked my coverage (many of you will know what they means).
