Yesterday, a plastic bag ban went into effect for several NJ towns.

In most towns, the ban prevents stores from handing out single-use plastic bags. Other towns include styrofoam containers and even plastic utensils and straws in the ban. Asbury Park is the first Jersey Shore town to participate. In addition to businesses no longer being able to hand out single-use plastic bags, they must charge a fee for reusable bags, and there are fines in place for businesses that violate the ban.

Would you support such a ban if it were to be put in place in Ocean County? There are pros and cons. An obvious positive to eliminating plastic bags and other single-use products is that we are cutting down on waste and are doing a good thing for the earth. However, when you've been used to using these products for years, it can be inconvenient and an adjustment to stop using them.
