Let’s call this Williams’ Wednesday Words of Wisdom.  Not really but I like the way it sounds.

  • So let me get this straight.  The NFL can give us 20 different replays with all kinds of angles on the field but off the field they can’t get a simple elevator video which was obtained by a celebrity news website?  Why do I believe that maybe nobody really asked for it?  The league and Commissioner Roger Goodell look very bad.
  • One of the best things about the fall season in Seaside Heights is that it’s easier to find a parking spot close to Klee’s Bar and Grill in Seaside Heights. Make sure you order a bar pie, even if it’s as an appetizer which my wife would not let me do the other night.  If you’re looking to take a walk on the boardwalk then stop by Maruca’s and get a slice of their tomato pie, still great after more than 60 years.
  • A day after Governor Chris Christie pretty much gave the green light to sports betting in New Jersey a Monmouth Park official said the racetrack will be ready in a few weeks to accept bets on pro sports.  I’m on record as saying it never happens.

A year ago GianCarlo Stigliano was a soccer player at CBA.  Wanting to play football he transferred to the former Monsignor Donovan and last weekend the sophomore kicked a game-winning 35-yard field goal in the final seconds as the Griffins edged Pinelands.  Stigliano was chosen in fan voting as the SportClips Player of the Week and you can see the video of his winning kick on shoresportsnetwork.com

  •  Hundreds are expected to take part in Saturday’s Semper Five Marine Corps Charity 5K in Seaside Park.  There will be a 1 mile fun run and a 5k run and walk with registration and check-in beginning at 7am at the Sawmill.  The event will benefit Marine Special Forces families as well as Marines and Sailors who have lost the ultimate sacrifice.  For more on Saturday’s race visit seasidesemperfive.org
  • Besides playing in New York what do the Yankees and Mets have in common?  This morning they are both 5 ½ games out in the race for the final wild card spot in their respective leagues.  That means neither will be playing in October.
