One of my favorite parts about our 5-year-old downtown Toms River offices is the scenery from my desk.

With a perfect view over Huddy Park to the south, I get a front row seat to storms, and we're usually among the first to know when controlled burns are going on, as plumes of smoke rise from the pinelands to the south.

Lately, I've been harnessing the power of today's digital devices when it looks like a storm is about to roll in, and setting up a time lapse video recording.

I got double lucky yesterday evening when those heavy storms started to move in, and the sun was setting at the same time.

In the video below, you can see the clouds churning and building as the sky beyond changes from pale to orange before rain overtakes everything.
