Huddy Park had a complete make-over in 2017. Toms River did such an amazing job fixing it up.

The triple gazebo in Huddy Park was a beautiful structure that I remember being under many times when we had events in Huddy. When Tropical Storm Isaias hit us here in Ocean County and especially Toms River, it loosened the larger part of the triple gazebo towards the back of Huddy Park standing on Water Street looking towards Huddy Park. The two smaller sections of the gazebo were removed because of safety, according to Toms River Business Administrator, Lou Amoruso.

I was wondering will Huddy Park be getting new gazebos to fit there and now we know the answer to that, "YES".

According to the patch.com, the Toms River Township Council approved the purchase of steel pavilions to replace the triple pavilion. Octagonal steel pavilions are being purchased, according to the council.

The large gazebo collapsed in November eventually but originally was loosened when the storm hit this past summer.

Boy, I remember that storm in the summer. So many listeners reached out to us. They were out of power for a while, trees were down, it was a horrible wind storm. I had a gazebo in my backyard, and I remember it splitting in half. It wasn't a built-in structure, it was a thick cloth gazebo with metal legs, but still. The wind was outrageous with that storm.

In 2017 when Huddy Park was renovated - Toms River Township Engineer Robert Chaklalian said the wooden frame of the gazebos had been in place for 25 years and were fitted with steel roofs and bases.

Excellent news Toms River, looking forward to seeing the new, stronger triple gazebo, hopefully, this summer.
