These days, air travel doesn't get a great rap. With most airlines looking at ferrying passengers more as cattle than the classy undertaking that it used to be. But, from my travels over the New Year, I've noticed a few bright spots.

As you know if you've been following this blog for the last few days, I have a bit of a gripe with Air Canada at the moment. And lost luggage has always been one of those things that people dread when having to check bags.

While they do pack you in with not a whole lot of room to move around (and heaven help you if you have to use the rest room!), and a bag of pretzels being considered haute cuisine, even on long flights, I do have to give the airlines credit in one category.

The two airlines that I traveled with - Delta and Air Canada, had excellent entertainment options.

While Delta didn't have seatback screens, if you had a wifi capable device with you (thankfully, I had my iPad), you had a number of options for free entertainment. And it's not just old reruns of "Seinfeld", but relatively new movie releases (on the way out I watched "Avengers: Age Of Ultron"). If you don't have a wifi device you're out of luck, but if you do, credit for the good choices.

On the way back with Air Canada, each seat had a seatback screen with copious choices between TV shows, movies, short films, documentaries, and music, all included with your airfare.

My experience after the fact may have not been ideal, not even close, but at least the trip itself was relatively pleasant.

How do you feel the airlines are doing these days? Comment below and let us know your opinion!
