The Forked River Service Area Has Reopened, Burger King Anchors
Monmouth County got Shake Shack, we get Burger King.
After nearly a year of being closed, the Forked River Service Area on the Garden State Parkway has reopened, but with considerably less fanfare than its neighbor to the north.
Both the Forked River Service Area at Garden State Parkway mile marker 76 and the Monmouth Service Area at mile marker 100 closed for complete rebuilds for months between 2018 and now.
Monmouth was the first to go, closing in the middle of summer 2018 and reopening in time for Memorial Day 2019.
There was a ton of buzz ahead of the reopening of the Monmouth complex when news came out that the plaza would be adding a Shake Shack to its restaurant lineup.
The Forked River Service Area took on an almost identical schedule, just a year later when it closed last summer, rebuilt, and reopened this week.
There wasn't as much buzz for the Jersey Shore's southern Parkway rest stop, though.
The new building houses pretty much the same businesses as before, with Burger King anchoring the food portion and a Sunoco gas station and convenience store on the fuel side of the equation.
Here's the official list of services and amenities at the brand new Forked River Service Area, straight from the New Jersey Turnpike Authority's website:
- Burger King
- ZMarket
- APlus Convenience Store
- Sunoco Service Station
- Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
- Restrooms
