If you've driven the Garden State Parkway through Wall in the last few days, you may have noticed that activity at the Monmouth Service Area has picked up.

The gas is flowing once again at the rest stop's Sunoco station which reopened last Thursday, and the building that will house the new restaurants and services just needs a few finishing touches.

The Monmouth Service Area closed last summer and has undergone a complete rebuild in the months since.

With a plan to reopen in time for Memorial Day 2019, it looks like the project is right on track.

The new restaurants that will feed hungry travelers include the highly anticipated opening of the first Jersey Shore Shake Shack location (which will soon be joined by a standalone Shake Shack at the Monmouth Mall), an Auntie Annie's, and a Starbucks.

The Asbury Park Press quotes a Turnpike Authority official as saying that the full service area is on schedule to open by Memorial Day.
