That photo was taken yesterday. October 28th. Three days before Halloween. But to retailers, "three days before Halloween" is just another way of saying "three days closer to Christmas".

I stopped by a local Walmart after work to do some shopping. I was with a friend who needed to pick up some last minute Halloween costume supplies.

But if you're going shopping and expecting to find the Halloween sections still well stocked, you're not a last minute shopper, you're a too late shopper.

The Halloween "section" was a single aisle that was picked over like the bargain bin at a going out of business sale.

But behind a set of automatic doors only feet away was literally a whole department dedicated to Christmas.

It was almost like a scene out of a movie. As I walked past, the automatic doors silently slid open to reveal twinkling lights and smiling characters beaming down at me. Seriously, the only thing missing was a spontaneous chorus of angel voices and jingle bells.

It was only a few weeks ago when I told you about how "77 Days Until Christmas" made me start to realize how close to the holiday season we really are. Last night I realized that, if the big box retailers have it their way, you've already forgotten about Halloween - before it's even happened.
