Pump Your Own Gas Could Be Coming To NJ
Pumping gas is one of my favorite topics to debate here on WOBM.com, it always gets people riled up on both sides of the conversation.
Personally, I'm always surprised when we put polls out asking if people want to be able to pump their own gas here in NJ. Even when given the option, most people still don't want the law changed. I would at least like to be allowed to pump my own gas. I'm not saying that everyone has to, I'd just like to be able to choose.
If Assemblyman Declan O'Scanlon has his way, we'll get exactly that - a choice. He's introduced legislation, "to allow consumer choice" when it comes to filling the tank.
I really do think it's silly that we're one of only two states in the whole country where you can't pump your own gas (Oregon is the other, and even they are working on changing their law).
I get that a lot of people don't want to, but there are a lot of us who do want to. Obviously, I'm one of them. I would love to be able to pull up to the pump, gas up, and go, without having to wait for an attendant.
If Assemblyman O'Scanlon has his way, soon we may be able to do that.
