Probe of reported child-baiting in Brick Township lacks direct witnesses

The report of a man accosting children in Brick Township Saturday remains under investigation, and they even know who he is. However, no one who might have been directly confronted has yet contacted police, authorities said.

A caller to Brick Township police dispatchers at about 11 AM on April 11 reported a suspicious individual asking kids at the Drum Point Sports Complex where they lived, if they needed rides, and if they wanted cigarettes, authorities said.

Arriving officers matched a subject to the description given by the caller, police said. Investigators would like to speak to anyone who was directly approached. Meanwhile, they've increased patrols as a precaution.
