So, just how does that water get from the utility company to your faucet? Find out tonight in Lincroft, as New Jersey American Water marks the completion of their new ten mile water pipeline.

The project has a cost of $20 million dollars and was seven years in the making. Construction has wrapped up and it's ready to be activated during the first week of June.

The company constructed the vast network of pipes during five phases. The project also created traffic nightmares for residents in Lincroft and the surrounding areas due to detour signs and digging for the pipes. The utility is promising that the expansion will help efficiency both for it's customers and the company itself.

Vice President of Engineering Suzanne Chiavari tells us "kids and adults alike will get a chance to sign a section of pipe tonight before it's lowered into the ground. The last section of pipe measures 36 inches by 18 feet. It will remain part of the community's infrastructure for generations to come."

The pipes will help keep the flow of water going even during high demand peak times. Chiavari says "this doesn't mean residents and tourists should get lax. We still need to conserve all year round both inside and outside the home."

The event will take place at the Lincroft Firehouse on Newman Springs Road tonight at 6. For more information or directions, call 732-747-5295.
