After my vacation to the Midwest last summer, I talked about some of the foods that I enjoy that we can't get here in New Jersey. But there are some foods that you have to cross international borders to enjoy.

My favorite non-U.S. treat is above. Smarties aren't like the Smarties that we have here in America - the tiny, sugary discs. These are more like M&Ms.

But there's something about Smarties that I like better than M&Ms. They're a little thinner, and the shell is a bit crispier, which I think gives them more of a satisfying "snap". I also think that the chocolate is better, but maybe that's just because it's different. Things that you can't get as much as you want always seem better.

There is one big thing missing from Canadian Smarties, though - in The U.K. the orange colored ones are actually orange flavored.

So, that was my big treat to bring back - a big container of Smarties. Sadly though, they didn't last very long.

Do you have any favorite foods that you can't get on American soil? Tell us in the comments!
