Fifty-eight affordable housing units nearing completion will be distributed in a lottery March 14 at the Lakewood Municipal Building. It starts at 7 PM. Housing officials estimate that nearly 1,000 hopefuls have successfully submitted applications.

According to township community development director Ervin Oross, every applicant has received notification of eligibility, along with a numbered lottery ball. Winners will hear their corresponding numbers called out as they're randomly issued from a Bingo cage.

Sixty applicants will be placed in three-bedroom units, and another 60 in four-bedroom homes.

"Thanks to the land donated by the Lakewood Township Committee to three not-for-profit developers – NJ HAND, NJ STEPS/Homes for All, the Lakewood Affordable Housing Corporation," said Ross in a release, "we are able to provide housing for those who would never be able to afford it.”
