The Jets fan caught on tape punching a Patriots fan after Sunday's game at Metlife Stadium is a passionate fan who had his picture taken with the Jets owner and coach along with= a criminal record.

Kurt Paschke, 38, is a Long Island bartender who spent time in jail for fatally stabbing another teen in 1992 outside a Sayville, Long Island pizzeria according to the New York Post, who reports he was charged with murder but convicted of a lesser crime.

Charges in the Sunday case will be brought today according to WNBC. State Police have talked to Kurt and a friend twice according to the Post.

Kurt's father,Kurt Paschke Sr., joined his wife in defending his son's action. Kurt Sr. says his son  was being attacked by three women when he responded. He says he's "tired of hearing about you never hit a girl or punch a girl." He asks what was his son was supposed to do.g

Colleen Paschke tells the Post her son was protecting her from unruly Patriots fans who were harassing them in the stands.“There was a group of Patriots fans antagonizing our friends the whole game … They were drunk and out of control,’’ Colleen explained to the tabloid. “Our friends were in the same row and, for instance, they were even making fun of a girl because she just gotten braces."

She says that as they left the game following the Jets thrilling overtime win, one person from the group said, "let's get them" and started throwing punches at Kurt.

The woman punched by Kurt is Jaclyn Nugent, 26, who lives in the Boston area according to the Post which reports State Police want to speak with her about the incident as well.
