Say Goodbye To Old-School Wawas In NJ, One Just Closed After 43 Years
Any more, seeing one of those smaller Wawa's that have the classic stone facade, and double entry glass doors is a rarity. There's still an old-school Wawa off 37 in Toms River, and I'll be honest, I like going to that Wawa more than a Super Wawa.
What Makes Old School Wawa's So Cool Compared To Newer Ones

The reason I like the old-school Wawas is twofold; firstly, since they're smaller, the traffic in the parking lots is typically not as wild, it's still a madhouse, but it's not as wild. And secondly, there's just a sense of nostalgia about those old-school Wawas.
An NJ Wawa Over 40 Years Old Is Closing Its Doors For Good
However, according to NJ.com, one of Jersey's few old-school Wawas has closed its doors for good to make way for another Super Wawa.
The old-school Wawa off 73 in Marlton has been around since 1983 and is now officially closed. Apparently, it's part of a move to make way for more new Super Wawas that have a fuel station and larger stores.
And look, given the option, I'll take a Super Wawa over no Wawa any day of the week. I love Wawa, but it just seems like a real bummer when these cool, older stores are being closed or demolished in order to make way for the newer locations.
Old Wawas Should Be Added To A Historic Registry In New Jersey
I think it would be cool if Wawa's that are older than, say, 40 years should be on some sort of historic registry, that way they can stick around for future generations to see what Wawa used to be like back in the day.
