Ok, so I've made peace with the fact that it's only August 21st as I'm writing this and pumpkin spice season has already started.

Another delicious season that we have to look forward to in the coming weeks is one of my very favorites - apple picking season.

So, when does apple picking season start here in New Jersey?

According to "The New Jersey Harvest Calendar" at PickYourOwn.org, you can already find some early apple picking here in the Garden State right now.

If you can hang on for just a few weeks, though, prime time for picking apples in New Jersey starts at the beginning of September and runs through October.

The end of September is when I embark on one of my favorite fall traditions, my annual road trip to southern Pennsylvania to visit a friend who lives on an apple orchard where I always pack my car with enough apples to feed a small city.
